Joshua Cohen

Cohen was born in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and has published prolifically across fiction, journalism, and criticism since his twenties, building a reputation as one of American Jewish literature's most stylistically restless heirs to Bellow and Roth.

The Netanyahus (2021) expands a real anecdote (critic Harold Bloom once hosted the Israeli historian Benzion Netanyahu, father of future prime minister Benjamin, on a disastrous campus job interview) into a footnoted, digressive campus farce narrated by an exhausted fictional historian forced to host the entire unruly Netanyahu family; it won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 2022.

He has continued publishing widely across genres, from the internet-culture epic Book of Numbers to journalism for numerous outlets, remaining one of contemporary American fiction's most prolific and formally restless voices.
